Like the rest of the leisure sector, we are preparing to reopen the doors of Seaside Community Hub. We have restocked the tuck shop and brought a new coffee machine, which is well worth a visit in itself. We will be hosting English Conversation, an informal way to improve your English Language skills especially for people whose 1st Language is not English. Also, it is the last few weeks to get help filling in your application for EU Settled Status. PC Helping Hand will be opening their Internet Café on Thursdays and Saturdays. Drop in if you need help using your Laptop or Tablet, want to use one of our computers to get online or need a repair to your IT equipment.

Most exciting is our revamped shop, we have a Community Fridge, where for £2 membership per visit and can take up to 10 items, saving food from going to waste. We never know what will be delivered, but we usually have fresh fruit and vegetables, packet soup, tinned goods, pasta, rice and cereal.

We have Books and DVDs for you to borrow and are launching Eastbourne’s first “Library of Things” with many useful items you may only need occasionally. All the items from kitchen gadgets for you to try out (popcorn maker, bread maker, soup maker), chairs for those outdoor gatherings, display boards for advertising at exhibitions, jigsaw puzzles, story sacks, toys and sensory toys, to a ukulele are available to hire at a reasonable price. The rest of the space is stocked with craft items, ornaments, toys, collectable trains, planes and cars, beauty products and some lovely homemade wooden items from Eastbourne Shed, all sold on behalf of local entrepreneurs with a percent of the sale going to the Hub.

We are very excited to be part of the Alive and Kicking’s Charity Football Library. We have lots of Footballs you can borrow from a few hours to a whole weekend. This compliments the other physical activities we have on offer for free, funded by Sport England: – martial arts, couch to 5k running group, keep fit, walking football and a walking group.

We still have capacity to rent out the Hub to groups. We can always do with some help, if you would like to volunteer or take part in the activities, please ring 01323 371322 and leave a message.

We look forward to welcoming you to Seaside Community Hub in a Covid safe manner.
